The Boy's Room- Kind of an After

So I spent my Mother's Day wrapping up a few projects around here.  Mainly painting the boy's bedroom blue and building their desk.  I also temporarily solved their rug dilema today. I had an old Mexican beach blanket that I had picked up for $2 and decided to use it as a floor mat.
Looks dhurrie-ish...
Oh, P.S., I washed the blanket and then threw it in the dryer not knowing the white stripes were wool, so I spent an hour wetting and streching it back. You will notice its no longer square.

Here is the before. I did a post on my original plans for it here.

I used the mirrors and night tables from my Pagoda set, questioning if the mirrors are too frou frou for them though.  I have another pair in my room that are more simple that I might switch out.

My oldest  wanted blue, so I went off from the drapes and did Ben Moore Chicago Blues.

I switched their beds for a pair that were mine from my childhood. Was going to paint them black, but I really liked the wood.

Sorry for the crapola photos, something is wrong with my camera and its resolution. I had to shoot quickly because the kids kept coming in and jumping on the beds. Safe to say this room looks nothing like this now.

I had two old afghans, one made by my great grandmother, and old white bedspreads too that got recycled.

The afghans look great with the desk wall across the room covered in old Massachusetts Registration signs.  I painted the nightstands black and cut a piece of plywood for the top.  I then wrapped it in a striped wallpaper remnant and had a piece of plexiglass cut for the top. The nightstand hide all their toys and clutter.

This is Thomas' work station. He loves to draw, and being a creative person I know how awesome it feels to have a space to work at.  Joe uses the Campaign desk between the beds for his space, but he is only 3 and doesn't sit still for long.

I recovered an old foot stool, and added this swag pendant I picked up when I was down at my parent's last month.  Can't decide if I like the light here, or if I want to paint it a different color.  My gut is telling me they are going to try to swing on it.

What do you think? Keep it, paint it or edit it out?

I say keep it. And dear LORD i love the pagoda mirrors, but I only have a girl so I am not a great judge on if too feminine or not. The white and the shape look fab against the blue. The girlie in me wants the beds white too but you are right- for boys, love the wood- warm! GREAT JOB!!!! xoxo shelli

What a smart, but fun room for your boys (and you)! LOVE Thomas' workstation and think the light looks fab just as it is. They may swing on it, but probably only once...or wear it as a monster hat, but that's kids!

Sissy-Its a Robert Kaufman. I dont know the name though. I had sold a bunch of leftovers about a month ago on here. My local fabric store might have more if you can't find it.
Lily- i found the desk at a thrift store for $40 last year.

It looks great!! Love the workstation, beds, campaign desk, and that light fixture. And I knew I recognized that fabric. I suppose it's all gone now, right? You snooze, you lose. I need to look for it around here. The pagoda mirrors might be a tad girlie, but not too much. I just love them - I got a new one myself I'll be posting soon.

Wonderful job as usual!!

What a stylish yet comfy room. Too bad they are 1. boys and 2. too young to realize just how COOL their space is.

I would say anchor the pendant really well to allow for swinging. (Do they leap off the rail of the footboard to land on the bed? I would.)

Oh, man. I am resisting the urge to say I love this, this or this, because I freakin' love it all. So good. Danika does it again. And those Mass registry signs? So cool.

I love when you washed the rug! That is so something I would do....:) The room is so cute. I hope they don't swing from the lamp...but I know boys!

Oh I love the mirrors. I don't think they are too girly. Then again, I'm not a boy-child.

Not sure about the light fixture. I kind of want to swing on it too. :)

I love this space. And the mirrors don't bother me one bit. I don't even know what to comment on specifically because I love it all! Every last thing!
Thanks for sharing yet another amazing project!
