I have been banging my head against my cabinets wondering what to paint them for 2 years, even though I got the kibosh from the Mr. more times than I can recall.
( I block out "No" really well). What is it with men and wood anyway? And it isn't even real wood.
So, I think this is it...
Gloss. Navy.
Its the new fake wood.
Or so I say.

I have toyed with so many colors, from grays to bold persimmon, but navy works with my scheme and its a color but neutral all at the same time.
Here is some more glossy blue love that has me wanting to sign on the dotted line...
(navy and pinky lilac- my color combo of the month)

Not navy at all, but it has me rethinking my exterior door...

I've drooled over that same kitchen image. I say go for it...and I can't wait to see how you put your own flair into this project.

Get your boys on board and have them ask Dad, that used to work in my house :)

Love it! That first kitchen by Miles Redd is Farrow & Ball's Hague Blue which I just painted my basement (well, a color-matched Sherwin Williams version). My husband calls it navy. To me, it's a really dark peacock blue, but I let him call it whatever he wants as long as he doesn't complain! I'll show it soon!

I painted my bath vanity navy blue. I love it! It makes me want to paint my kitchen cabinets the same color. But I'm stuck with a black granite countertop & I don't think that would look good together.

I have a chest/credenza/cabinet thing in our living room that I want to paint blue too. I say go for it!

I love it. Do it! I just painted a really dinged up bookshelf high gloss hot pink. It is AWESOME. I think high gloss is the answer to everything.

I hate to say it, but if I was your husband (which would be strange all things considered) I would not want you to paint the cabinets either. Even though I love painted cabinets. Why you may ask....cause you're sort of crazy, and I mean that in the best, I want to read your blog every day, sort of way. You change things a whole lot, and by that I mean a "donkey" load (as my 10 year old daughter would say).
I love navy, but only in the last 2 years. Hence, it is a trend color to be sure. I have painted my kitchen cabinets twice, and I can tell you the paint goes on better the first time. Best to paint them a non-trend boring color and jazz up you back splash...again, or your walls...again.

I've been considering navy cabinets myself lately (though just part of them). I go back and forth though.. navy.. black.. navy.. Good thing I have plenty of time to decide!

Looks like it will be quite stunning..and it is in a unisex color. Sometimes it is not easy for men to visualize.

Life is too short not to embrace a silly little thing like paint. DO IT.

I've got many of these same images floating around on my Pinterest page. LOVE the first image. Go for it!... Then, you can share with us how great it looks and perhaps I'll have the courage to them go for it myself!

I want to preface my comment by acknowledging that you are an excellent interior designer, and I love virtually everything you do. That said, I don't think gloss navy blue is a good choice for kitchen cupboards. I base this on personal experience with an office full of built-in bookshelves. Dark, glossy paint does two things: 1) It makes the room very dark; and 2) It shows every imperfection in the wood, such as fingerprints, scratches, hammer marks, nail holes, etc. Moreover, when you find yourself regretting the decision, dark, glossy paint is very hard to cover up.
