The sky might be spitting slush and my entire house is infected with strep throat,
but I couldn't be happier.
This shit happened today, from a crappy little sketch I drew...(just ignore the unpainted shingles).
team Ryan-Brent-Carmon you rock
The name of the my game was called:
"Detract from the Pizza Hut roofline and draw attention to the round window and break up the long ass run of house with a shape that kind of looks like an outdoor fireplace"

I am thinking its working. No? Is it just the penicillin fog I 'm in? Does it look weird? You can tell me.
Exterior bead-board going next to the front door to tie it all together.
and to sustain my giddiness we passed inspections today and plaster happens this weekend.
walls. fresh new walls.

back with a real post about how not to screw up a stencil once I can form big sentences again.
peace and antibiotics!

Thank gosh there are creative and courageous decorators in New England! I absolutely love your blog. I love a homeowner risk taker, as a non-native New Englander who sees too many boring houses. You have a fresh take on it, and are adventurous and very Refreshing!

It is hard to tell by your photos whether the wide circle window white build-out (looks kinda like a wide white column) is the same width as your front door entrance? Is the intention to draw the eye away from the front entrance? If you want the front door entrance to be the focus you could paint the circle window column a slightly darker monochromatic shade of the house color and then plant a very nice tall bush, such as purple Ninebark where the face of the house juts out 2 feet (in front of the water downspout). Ninebark will grow in your Zone. You could also have your builder install white trellis on both sides of the round window and plant a growing vine, which would soften it.

(Excuse my feedback as I critique art students all day.)

It's fantastic the way it is. I would add shutters on the windows, and don't plant a long row of the same plant. That would make the house look linear, again.

I think it is perfect! It really does work.

Love what you've done! I could imagine a pea gravel courtyard to the right of your front door extending in front of the new round window, with metal benches w/an X design. I have a ranch house and have always wanted to do that but our house is situated on a slope so it won't quite work.
