A love story that led to a project.

Hi folks! OK, so I have some pictures of  a project I've recently done that I'd love to share with you.  This residence is in Salem, MA and is quite special to me.  It is actually where I met my husband.  He bought the building to make into condos back in 2001.   At the time I was working for a company and was sent over to help him with colors.  We quickly became friends, and a few years later more.  We married in 2004 and this unit was actually our first home.  We sold it shortly after we became pregnant and embarked on our furious and unintentional house flipping phase. (He is in real estate and I design, so we really make a dangerous combo. Luckily children slowed that all down.)
So back to this condo... I first designed it to fit my then bachelor husband, next I move in and tweak it a bit and now the new owner had hired me to help design it for him. It has been such a great learning opportunity to work in a place that I once lived.  I also was very lucky because my client has great taste and  he loved using pattern and wallpaper. (I was so excited that he was open to a doing a black guest room!)  At first I thought it would be much easier because I knew the space and lighting so well, but it actually was quite difficult because I knew too much.
In the end I loved seeing the space in a whole new "light".

There are still a few more things to fluff and finish.  My good friend Nancy Stanley snapped these photos for me.  If you are in the Boston area do check her website, Nancy Stanley Photography. She takes beautiful pictures and I plan on doing a post of some of her work in the near future.

  2. Wow you did a great job I'm drooling over the black grass cloth. My walls are black and managed to collect so much dust I wonder if grass cloth does the same..?? Btw I'm not a red person but the pops of red in that room are pretty fabulous!

  4. I was skipping through blogs and stopped at your wonderful Blog Title and photos. Everyone here in blogland is so talented with designing on the computer! Yours is wonderful and really caught my eye. I am new to this and would love to make my title (banner?) look more professional. May I ask how you put that together? I have a Mac computer but am due to buy something new soon and I want to understand what is out there..
