Crazy or Cool Stumblings

While looking for sources for bad ass rag rugs I stumbled upon this light from Art Broker Designs and was intrigued and frightened at the same time. It kind of looks like a giant spider or something that would probe you on  a space ship, but I respect its ingenuity...
Wanted to share.  Leaning toward crazy because I'm an arachnophobe. Maybe if it was in a different happier color.  How bout you, crazy or cool?

Now back to my stumbling. What I was looking for were these...

Tejo Remy/Rene Veenhuizen rugs made from recycled wool blankets.
Cool, no?
I was working on the boy's room and was trying to figure a rug solution, then I remembered these.

I saw them on Apartment Therapy a ways ago, under a post for rugs you can make.  I bookmarked it to go back to one day, and that day was this weekend.

One problem.  I can't find any instructions. Or maybe I did, but they are not in English.
All I know is they use old wool blankets (in strips), but I'm trying to figure out how they stick them together. Any thoughts? Anyone ever make anything like this? Know where I can buy one without refinancing?

They would probably take forever to make, but I think they'd look so good in a kids room. They would also look killer framed as art. Thoughts or help?

  1. Love it...would be gorgeous in a nursery! Looks like felted wool, which is easy to do. But I am not sure how they glued it all together. The only problem for a kids/baby room I would be concerned about the durability of it. It's so cool though!

  3. I put a cheap $20 I bought from target in the destroyers room and that same night he puked on it. Kids they destroy everything. It is a nice rug, hopefully it wont take you a year to make if you find the DIY instructions for it.

  4. Love the rug! Not so much the light. I wish I had some thoughts on how to put it together. Hot glue? Sewing? I'm clueless!

  5. Thanks so much Angeline! That looks doable. Long, but very cool. You're the best!
And Bri, I know. This would probably be used as art instead of under their feet. I just pulled an old mexican blanket out of my linen closet that is gonna go down for now.

  6. I'm going to be completely useless as well as to how to put that thing together...but I'm *lovin'* the idea of these as children's room art...brilliant.

  8. Wow, that is a gigantic undertaking. I would love to have the time and patience to be able to tackle something like this. I say glue gun.

  9. Love the rug! It would look amazing in a child's room. Good luck making it, I hope you find the instructions because I can't wait to see how it turns out. Your projects are always amazing. I'm not a fan of the light, it's a little too out there for my taste.
