We all get stuck designing. Its kind of like writer's block with a third dimension. And most designers can tell you that designing for yourself is harder than any client. Having a blog has been the best thing ever. You have all been so helpful with your comments. Its like having a design friend I can call at any hour with a crazy question. I hope that I have been able to offer some inspiration in return.
Well, I am currently stuck on my bedroom. I have so many ideas.
Enter the bling. While cleaning my bedroom I had an epiphany. The stuff I wore all the time had all the answers...
I really was loving the coral, sea green, lavender and yellow combo all while grounded with white and a little gold sparkle. Could it be that simple?
I want you to do an experiment for me. Put what accessories you wear frequently together. Could it translate into a room that would make you happy? I'm sure this has been done in a Cosmo Quiz somewhere, but indulge me. So this is what my bedroom will look like...
Lots of vintage.
Lots of white with pops of color and sparkle.
Fretwork and natural textures.
How about you? I'd love to see your "bling"room.

Girl, you know I'm loving lavender and coral right now. It will be beautiful with all those glorious colors - go for it! Can't wait to see the results tomorrow. That's when it will be done, right?
I want to try!! Mine would be lots of simple gold and silver accents and tons of vintage. Throw in a dab of pink, red, blue or turquoise and a tiny dose of sparkle and that's me. Pretty simple with a boho vibe. LOve your jewelry selection- that chunky gold number is fab!
This is totally brilliant! Mine would have a some bold statement pieces, some color and shine, but built on some good classic pieces...with at least one or two really unique sentimental pieces (c; This is a freakin' genius way to get some inspiration!
I've never seen a Bling quiz, so I think your perspective is unique. (LOVE those hand figurines. What's the story?)
Mine would be chunky, bold, metallic and LOUD.
Thanks! The hands came from an antique dealer friend of ours that was retiring & selling his shop to move to Florida. He actually gave them to me when I told him I thought they were cool. He told me they were from Indonesia and he had used them for displays.
I thought about this before. I think there was some design show back in the day where they would ask the homeowner to bring out their favorite piece of clothing. I'm not sure that translates as nicely as accessories though. I will have to do a little playing when I get home!
