Art=Pillows

I brought down a slew of Marushka prints (above) that my mother had actually found for me last summer. She wanted to know if I was using them, and of course they were still in  the awaiting project pile. She wanted to make them into pillows, and I was game...
They were printed on a light weight canvas and were quite easy to make.
I just cut them off their stretchers and made some welting. She found the blue floral pillows at Target and they went great together. I also made her a striped pillow on the diagonal from the left over welting.

She needed pillows for these chairs, so I made her some Ikat with my fabric paints...
The first go was a bit light, so I darkened and added streaks once it dried...

The kids have been loving being at Mima & Pipa's. They idolize my Dad for many reasons, but currently its because he drives a motorcycle... and he picked up a small one for them too.
His back should hurt today from pushing them around on it. It actually has an engine, but I'd like to keep this trip with no trips to the E.R.

Just realized Joe is wearing an appropriate shirt.

I am yet again amazed by what you accomplish. I started my throw pillows for my couch this weekend only to realize I bought the wrong size zippers for one pair, and then my sewing machine refused to machine-baste. Then the foam for the ottoman was wrong. Etc. Perhaps you plan better than I do?

But. They look AWESOME, and your parents place is super cute.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Amber-
The floors are actually old barn siding my mom bought and had sanded down... you just need to find a teardown and make them an offer.
Heather-
I said screw it to zippers on this project, I suck at them.

What a great project!I really want to try something like this, though I doubt they'll be as good as yours. You are so talented. Love all your art work.

P.S. Thanks so much for the warm welcome. It really means a lot.

Wow. I'm so impressed you can just whip up pillows like that. And they're so original. Art as pillows??

Great project, your pillows turned out stunning. I never would have thought about making pillows out of art.

Brilliant idea on the canvas prints to pillows. I would have never thought of that in a million years.
