50 cent lucite handles y'all

You read it right. I found these SATTA knobs today at IKEA.
6 handles for $2.99!

So the hoarder in me bought 4 packs, not knowing what I was going to do with them, but something was going down.

They come in lots of colors, but I like plain clear...

They were fine as is, but I can't leave well enough alone.
The stainless interior hardware bugged me, so I decided to sexy them up with a bit of gold.
I taped around the bases with scotch tape...
and used my fave Krylon Gold Leaf Paint Pen
(Seriously Krylon, when are you going to send me a case of these and let me be your endorser?)

They became magical, and still only cost me about 50 cents.

IKEA also sells a 6 pack of acrylic knobs for $1.99.
$tupidne$$.
SO much you can do with them.
Like find shiny objects to epoxy to them.

Obviously a bigger shiny object, but you see where I am going...
now you know. but you probably already did.

I saw those at Ikea the other day. I carried around a pack with me deciding whether to purchase or not and decided not. I thought maybe they would look cheap? But they look fantastic in your picture. Love the gold. I'll have to add it to my list when I go back. My kitchen cabinets need an update!

I loved these when I saw them at IKEA, but felt something was missing. Then you come along and wow me with some gold! Don't you just love the Krylon pen? I feel it can transform anything! And the rhinestone on top! TOO CUTE

brilliant idea - made them look much more expensive. i want to use this for my kitchen but with the silver tone. does it last with the krylon pen? or is it quickly scratching off? thanks again for the great idea! sarah at sarahbriggs dot com

Hi Sarah-
It has held up pretty well. I did have a small scratch occur when I installed one, but i just touched it up with the pen.

Hi Keggy25-

You are going to want to mix the white into the darker color. You basically want to keep lightening the original dark gray color with increments of white until the last coat you brush on is a pale gray.
Think of the steps like you are creating a paint sample strip/chip you'd find at the paint store. The bottom chip will be the darkest and you will then want to gradually go a few shades lighter by mixing in the white. Hope that helped! I know its confusing trying to explain it with words- I need to start making videos since I myself am a visual learner.
