Perfection in a Small Space

I saw this Key West cottage decorated by Blair Gordon in the latest Coastal Living (thanks Aunt Andrea!) and I am just in love with this kitchen.  As a person that tends to gild the lily, I have to say this is so refreshing all white.
I would probably wind up eventually painting the floor or ceiling, but it really is perfect as is.
I love the capiz globe chandeliers and the tile to the ceiling (which I have been seeing everywhere)!

The entire cottage is only 800 square feet and they have 3 kids running around in there. I know it is a vacation home, but it seriously has me wanting to downsize.
And its a pink cottage!

More floor to ceiling tile, and you know I love that vanity!

Great boys room.
If my kids weren't daredevils and didn't already do split kicks jumping from there current beds
 I would definitely do bunks.

And a fun giant upholstered headboard makes a small space seem a bit more grand...

What about you? Could you do small?

I do small everyday! I live in the South End of Boston in 433 sq feet. It's only me, but somedays it can be tight. It does make decorating on a budget much easier though.

Those globes make that kitchen, just gorgeous! And, that headboard shape, LOVE!

My husband and I lived in an 800 sq ft apartment for 8 years. I've done small and it definitely takes some creative thinking (and you really have to like your room mate). We finally upgraded to 2000 sq. ft and I have to say, I prefer wide open spaces now. But it's been a game changer for me in terms of how I decorate and there's still a bit of a learning curve with all of my new found space.

I downsized from 3400 feet to 650 square feet. It was a shock to my system and took me a while to adjust. Fast forward 4 years. Now that my son is away at college it almost feels too big, although I do enjoy having his bedroom as a sewing/crafting/project space. Its fantastic to do some work and just close the door instead of having to pick up and put away every time. I do miss having outdoor space. A balcony or deck would be so nice!

I'm more than good with small as long as there is a place somewhere for storage! Love the little pink house.

Crazy about that bath tile! The kitchen is fab too, but you already said that :)

800SF is pretty small with 3 kids! I could barely manage it with my pug.

not with 7 kids but I would rather too small than too big.

I do live small, but I live in Europe :))
The cottage details are lovely, especially the kitchen and the bath. But what I loved the most was your intriguing remark about maybe ending up painting... the ceiling :))))

Loved the space for perhaps a couple...but 3 kids in 800SF? no way, even in a vacation house it would be really tough. sign me off as a mother who feels the need for more space!

We've done it all. Small house, giant house, medium house and the one we have the fondest memories of is the small house. The one that none of us remembers fondly is the giant house. We never knew where anyone was and there was no feeling of family.
